Scheduled Areas are declared by order of the President under paragraph 6 of the Fifth Schedule. The order in force is the Scheduled Areas (State of Rajasthan) Order, 2018 (C.O. 270, 19 May 2018). It replaced the 1981 order (C.O. 114 of 12 February 1981), because of new districts and the change in the Scheduled Tribe population in Census 2011.
It covers 3 whole districts, 9 whole tehsils, 1 whole block and 227 villages of 46 gram panchayats. Tehsils and districts are as they stood on 19 May 2018.
