Two captive-bred Great Indian Bustards (Godawan) released into Desert National Park, Jaisalmer

On 4 October 2026, Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav released two male captive-bred Great Indian Bustards in the Sudasari range of the Desert National Park, Jaisalmer, the first step from captive breeding to returning the bird to the wild. They were raised at the conservation breeding centres at Sam and Ramdevra under Project GIB, run since 2016 by the Environment Ministry, the Rajasthan Forest Department and the Wildlife Institute of India. The Godawan is Rajasthan's state bird and is critically endangered.

Rajasthan panchayat elections announced: four phases from 23 October; 14,403 gram panchayats

On 3 October 2026, State Election Commissioner Rajeshwar Singh announced elections to Rajasthan's Panchayati Raj institutions in four phases: 41 Zila Parishads, 457 Panchayat Samitis and 14,403 Gram Panchayats. Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti members will be elected on 23 and 29 October and 4 and 14 November, and panch-sarpanch polls are on 25 and 31 October and 6 and 16 November. There are 4,03,07,308 voters; the model code of conduct came into force at once.

Surat–Udaipur Vande Bharat Express: inaugural run on 2 October; regular service from 3–4 October

The inaugural run of the Surat–Udaipur Vande Bharat Express left Surat on 2 October 2026 (Gandhi Jayanti). Regular service began from Udaipur on 3 October and from Surat on 4 October; the train (26903/26904) covers the route in about 7 hours 30 minutes, six days a week except Tuesday. Its nine commercial stops include Bharuch, Vadodara, Ahmedabad (Asarva), Himmatnagar, Dungarpur and Zawar.

Octave 2026 festival of North-East culture held in Jaipur from 1 to 4 October

Octave 2026, a four-day festival of the arts of North-East India, was held at the Rajasthan International Centre, Jaipur, from 1 to 4 October 2026. It was organised by the West Zone Cultural Centre (WZCC), Udaipur, a centre of the Union Ministry of Culture. Artists from states such as Sikkim, Manipur, Assam and Nagaland performed; Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari attended the closing on 4 October.

Rajasthan terracotta artist Chandra Shekhar Sain among 20 Lalit Kala Akademi National Award winners

On 27 September 2026, the Lalit Kala Akademi announced 20 National Akademi Awards at its 65th National Exhibition of Art. Chandra Shekhar Sain, a terracotta artist from Rajasthan, won in the sculpture category for his terracotta work ‘My Entire World-I’. He is the only artist from Rajasthan among this year's awardees.

Second edition of IAF's multinational air exercise Tarang Shakti begins at Jodhpur on 26 September 2026

Tarang Shakti 2026, the second edition of the Indian Air Force's multinational air exercise, began on 26 September at Air Force Station Jodhpur and nearby air bases and runs till 12 October. Countries taking part with aircraft include Australia, Bangladesh, France, Germany, Sri Lanka, the UAE and the USA. Missions include counter-air, air defence, reconnaissance, airlift and air-to-air refuelling.

India–Japan air exercise Veer Guardian 2026 concludes at Air Force Station Jodhpur on 22 September

The Indian Air Force and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force held the bilateral air exercise Veer Guardian 2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur from 9 to 22 September. It was the first time Japanese fighter aircraft operated from Indian soil in a bilateral exercise; Japan brought F-2A fighters and the IAF flew Tejas, Su-30MKI and Rafale. On 20 September, IAF chief Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh and Japan's air chief General Takehiro Morita flew a sortie in the Tejas.

WWF Global Conservation Conference opens in Jaipur on 21 September 2026; delegates from over 100 countries

Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav inaugurated the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) Global Conservation Conference in Jaipur on 21 September 2026. He said that in a decade India's protected areas rose from about 750 to over 1,000, tiger reserves from 47 to 58, elephant reserves from 30 to 33 and Ramsar sites from 24 to 101. He cited cheetah reintroduction and the Great Indian Bustard conservation breeding programme in Rajasthan as key successes.

Eklavya Model Residential Schools in Rajasthan to get computer labs-cum-smart classrooms worth over ₹16 crore

On 15 September 2026, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs said Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in Rajasthan will get computer labs-cum-smart classrooms worth over ₹16 crore. The project is funded by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) under Corporate Social Responsibility with the National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC). Tribal Affairs Secretary Ranjana Chopra said over 450 EMRS students qualified for JEE Advanced and over 350 for NEET-UG this year.

22nd India–US exercise Yudh Abhyas begins on 15 September at Auli and Rajasthan's Mahajan Field Firing Range

The 22nd edition of the India–US joint military exercise Yudh Abhyas began on 15 September 2026 at the Auli Foreign Training Node in Uttarakhand and the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan. About 600 soldiers from each army are training for Integrated Battle Groups in mountain and semi-mountain terrain, with drones and long-range precision fires. Live-fire drills in Rajasthan used M777 howitzers, Dhanush guns and Pinaka rocket launchers.

IAF holds its first ‘Dronathon-2026’ at Pokhran Field Firing Range, Jaisalmer, from 14 September

The Indian Air Force held its first Dronathon-2026, a three-day event, at the Pokhran Field Firing Range in Jaisalmer from 14 to 16 September 2026. The birth anniversary of folk deity Baba Ramdev was celebrated on Bhadrapada dooj (dwitiya), 13 September 2026. Rajasthan elects 309 urban local bodies in two phases (9 and 11 September 2026); results on 14 September

Elections to 309 urban local bodies of Rajasthan, including 10 municipal corporations, were held in two phases: 162 bodies on 9 September and 147 bodies on 11 September 2026. Votes were counted on 14 September, and heads of most bodies were elected on 21 September. On 25 September, mayors were elected in Jaipur (Sunil Kothari), Jodhpur (Prasannachand Mehta) and Kota (Anusuiya Goswami).

PM-SETU approves ₹241 crore ITI cluster plan for Rajasthan with Government ITI Bhiwadi as hub

On 7 September 2026, the 5th National Steering Committee of PM-SETU approved a ₹241 crore investment plan for an ITI cluster in Rajasthan. Government ITI Bhiwadi is the hub, with Government ITIs at Alwar, Neemrana, Tijara and Kishangarh Bas as spokes; H.G. Infra Engineering Ltd is the industry partner. The meeting, chaired by Skill Development Secretary Debashree Mukherjee, cleared ₹735.70 crore for clusters in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana.

Governor Haribhau Bagade administered the oath of office to Justice Sanjay Kumar Agrawal as Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court in Jaipur on 7 September 2026. The Centre notified his appointment after a Supreme Court Collegium recommendation of 31 August 2026. He earlier served for about 13 years at the Chhattisgarh High Court. Until then, the Rajasthan High Court was working under an Acting Chief Justice.

Supreme Court bans construction within 100 metres of Rajasthan's polluted Jojari river

On 24 August 2026, a Supreme Court bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta barred all construction and development within 100 metres of the edge of the Jojari river until its high flood line and ecological buffer zones are scientifically marked. It also barred hazardous or polluting industry within 500 metres on either side of the flood line. The order came in a suo motu case on industrial pollution of the Jojari–Bandi–Luni river system in western Rajasthan.

2.89 lakh PMAY-G houses worth ₹3,473 crore approved for Rajasthan at state event in Baran

At a state-level programme in Baran on 17 August 2026, Union Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan handed over approvals for 2,89,355 pucca houses worth ₹3,473 crore under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Gramin to CM Bhajan Lal Sharma. A further ₹340.59 crore was approved for agricultural schemes in the state, and a target was set to double Lakhpati Didis in Rajasthan from 16 lakh to 32 lakh.

At Alwar, Amit Shah launches ₹6,453-crore works and four new district cooperative banks

On 16 August 2026 in Alwar, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah launched 954 works worth ₹6,453 crore across 17 districts of Rajasthan. These included a milk processing plant at Alwar of 3 lakh litres a day and four new district cooperative banks at Phalodi, Balotra, Didwana-Kuchaman and Pratapgarh, which will offer zero-interest farm loans. ₹667 crore was also transferred to 67 lakh farmers under the Mukhyamantri Kisan Samman Nidhi.

Rajasthan Cabinet approves draft Uniform Civil Code Bill-2026; tribal customs kept outside its scope

On 13 August 2026, the Rajasthan Cabinet approved the draft Rajasthan Uniform Civil Code Bill-2026, prepared on the recommendations of a committee headed by retired Supreme Court judge Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai. It proposes uniform rules on marriage, divorce, inheritance, maintenance and live-in relationships, compulsory registration of marriages within 60 days and a ban on polygamy. Rituals and customs of tribal communities are kept outside its purview.

Draft Rajasthan Trees (Protection) Bill-2026 gives special protection to 29 species including Khejri

The same Cabinet meeting on 13 August 2026 approved the draft Rajasthan Trees (Protection) Bill, 2026 to regulate the felling of trees on non-forest land. It gives special protection to 29 species, including Khejri (the state tree), Rohida, Bargad and Peepal. Cutting a tree without permission can bring up to one year's imprisonment, a fine of up to ₹1 lakh, or both, and permitted felling must be compensated by planting trees in the same area.

On 7 August 2026, the Rajasthan Cabinet chaired by CM Bhajan Lal Sharma decided that Panchayati Raj and urban local body elections will be held together ('One State, One Election') and accepted the OBC (Political Representation) Commission's recommendations on reservation in these bodies. Centre tells Lok Sabha Mangarh Dham (Banswara) does not qualify as a Monument of National Importance

On 4 August 2026, Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat told the Lok Sabha, in reply to MP Hanuman Beniwal, that Mangarh Dham in Banswara does not meet the criteria for a Monument of National Importance under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958. He said widespread modern construction at the site has affected its archaeological character and authenticity. Mangarh is where more than 1,500 tribals, gathered under Govind Guru, were killed by British forces on 17 November 1913.

NHAI starts barrier-free MLFF tolling at Shahjahanpur plaza on Delhi–Jaipur NH-48

On 2 August 2026, NHAI introduced Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling at the Shahjahanpur toll plaza on the Delhi–Jaipur section of National Highway-48. The system combines Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras with FASTag-based electronic toll collection, so vehicles pass without stopping. Shahjahanpur is the third plaza on this corridor to adopt MLFF, after Daulatpura and Manoharpura.

CM honours Glasgow CWG medallists; boxer Arundhati Choudhary gets ₹1 crore for 70kg gold

In August 2026, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma felicitated Rajasthan's medal winners from the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. Boxer Arundhati Choudhary, who won the women's 70kg gold by beating England's Chantelle Reid, received ₹1 crore, and javelin thrower Yashvir Singh, a bronze medallist, received ₹30 lakh. India won a record seven boxing gold medals at Glasgow 2026.

Rajasthan first state to execute a rare earth exploration licence, for a 207.63 sq km block

On 29 July 2026, Rajasthan's Department of Mines and Geology executed an exploration licence for rare earth elements (REEs), making Rajasthan the first state in India to do so. The licence, awarded through auction to CMPDI, covers 207.63 sq km in the Navatala-Devigarh area of Pachpadra tehsil (Balotra) and Shergarh tehsil (Jodhpur). Lanthanum, cerium, praseodymium and neodymium have been indicated there.

Rajasthan leads India in completed high-speed corridors and expressways: 1,192 km

On 23 July 2026, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari told the Rajya Sabha that 10,389 km of high-speed corridors and greenfield expressways have been awarded in India, of which 4,809 km are complete. Rajasthan has the highest awarded length (1,340 km) and the most completed length (1,192 km), about a quarter of the national total.

Rajasthan first state to sign a 'Framework for Action' with the International Solar Alliance

Rajasthan, Gujarat, MP and Maharashtra settle Narmada Award payment disputes

On 7 July 2026, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra signed a one-time settlement in New Delhi, in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, to end long-pending payment disputes under the Narmada Award. The disputes concerned cost-sharing for the Sardar Sarovar Project and compensation for displaced people; Madhya Pradesh will pay ₹217 crore to Gujarat. The Narmada Water Disputes Tribunal gave its award in 1979.

PM inaugurates HPCL Rajasthan Refinery at Pachpadra (Balotra), a 9 MMTPA greenfield refinery

On 4 July 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery at Pachpadra in Balotra district. It is a greenfield refinery-cum-petrochemical complex with a refining capacity of 9 million tonnes per annum and petrochemical capacity of 2.4 MMTPA. It is a joint venture of HPCL (74%) and the Government of Rajasthan (26%), and India's first greenfield refinery in about a decade, after Paradip (2016).

New ₹480-crore terminal of Jodhpur airport inaugurated by the Prime Minister

On 4 July 2026, the Prime Minister inaugurated the new terminal building of Jodhpur airport, built at a cost of ₹480 crore. It covers more than 23,000 square metres and can handle up to 20 lakh passengers a year. Its design uses Rajasthani elements such as arches and jharokhas.

Foundation stone laid for ₹13,037-crore Jaipur Metro Phase-2: 41 km, 36 stations

On 4 July 2026, the Prime Minister virtually laid the foundation stone of Jaipur Metro Phase-2 during the refinery event at Pachpadra. The ₹13,037-crore north–south corridor will run about 41 km from Prahladpura to Todi Mod with 36 stations.

29th National Conference on e-Governance held in Jaipur on 1–2 July 2026

The 29th National Conference on e-Governance was held at the Rajasthan International Centre, Jaipur, on 1–2 July 2026. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma inaugurated it. It was organised by DARPG, the Ministry of Electronics and IT and the Government of Rajasthan, and the National e-Governance Awards were presented on the second day.

K.C. Maloo, Rajasthan Ratna awardee and founder of Veena Music, dies at 80

K.C. Maloo, the music archivist who founded Veena Music (Veena Cassettes), died in Jaipur at the age of 80; his death was reported on 14 July 2026. He documented more than 5,000 Rajasthani folk songs. The state government honoured him with the Rajasthan Ratna in 2022.

Cooperative ride-hailing service 'Bharat Taxi' launched in Rajasthan from Jaipur

In July 2026, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma launched Bharat Taxi in Jaipur in the presence of Union Minister of State for Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol. It is a cooperative ride-hailing platform in which drivers, called 'Sarathis', are member-owners. After Delhi, Gujarat and Maharashtra, Rajasthan is the next state to get the service.

Rajasthan and Haryana sign agreement to implement Yamuna Water Project from Hathnikund barrage

On 29 June 2026 in New Delhi, in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Haryana and Rajasthan signed an agreement to build and run the Yamuna Water Project. About 580 million cubic metres of monsoon water from the Hathnikund barrage will reach Rajasthan through three underground pipelines. It is meant mainly for drinking water in Churu, Sikar, Jhunjhunu and other water-short areas, ending a nearly three-decade-old issue.

National workshop at Alwar marks 18 years of tiger reintroduction in Sariska; tiger roadmap released

On 28 June 2026 Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav inaugurated a National Workshop on 'Tiger Re-introduction: Opportunities & Challenges' at Alwar, organised by the NTCA with the Rajasthan government. It marked 18 years of tiger reintroduction in Sariska Tiger Reserve, the world's first successful scientific reintroduction of tigers where they had gone locally extinct. Sariska has gone from no tigers in 2005 to 56 now. The Road Map on Active Management of Tigers in India and the Project Cheetah annual report were released.

On International MSME Day, Rajasthan releases Industrial Development Policy and launches RAMP portal

On 27 June 2026, International MSME Day, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma released the Rajasthan Industrial Development Policy and an ODOP coffee table book and launched the RAMP (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance) portal at the Constitution Club, Jaipur. Loans, grants and subsidies of over Rs 13 crore were handed out. He said Rajasthan, with over 33 lakh MSME units, is now the country's fourth-largest MSME state.

First e-buses under PM e-Bus Sewa flagged off in Rajasthan: 29 for Jaipur, 18 for Bhilwara

On 20 June 2026 Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma flagged off 29 electric buses in Jaipur from Amar Jawan Jyoti and virtually launched 18 for Bhilwara, the state's first e-buses under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme. The Centre has sanctioned 675 e-buses for eight cities (Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Bikaner, Bhilwara, Alwar and Ajmer) and approved 475 more, taking Rajasthan's total to 1,150.

Rajasthan's first Multi-Lane Free Flow (barrier-less) toll system starts at Daulatpura on NH-48

On 19 June 2026 NHAI launched a Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system at the Daulatpura toll plaza on the Delhi–Jaipur section of NH-48, the first such system in Rajasthan. MLFF combines Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras with FASTag so vehicles pay without stopping. NHAI plans to move the Shahjahanpur and Manoharpur plazas to MLFF next.

Rajasthan's Jan Aadhaar (Family ID) made available on DigiLocker for about 7.5 crore residents

On 17 June 2026 the Ministry of Electronics and IT announced that DigiLocker has on-boarded Rajasthan's Jan Aadhaar, the state's household Family ID, so that about 7.5 crore residents can fetch and share it digitally. The link works both ways: citizens can also enrol for a new Family ID from within DigiLocker. Jan Aadhaar is used for welfare schemes such as the Chiranjeevi health scheme, the Public Distribution System and scholarships.

Six states incl. Rajasthan agree to sign MoU on Kishau multipurpose dam on the Tons river

At a meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on 16 June 2026, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan agreed to sign an MoU for the long-pending Kishau Multi-Purpose Dam Project. The dam is planned on the Tons, a tributary of the Yamuna, and is meant to help rejuvenate the Yamuna. The Centre will bear 90% of the water component; water allotted to Himachal Pradesh will go to Delhi and Rajasthan in lieu of their share of the power component.

During his visit to Slovakia in mid-June 2026, PM Narendra Modi gifted Thewa-motif cufflinks to Slovak President Peter Pellegrini. On 11 June 2026 Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw virtually inaugurated a 20 kW Akashvani FM transmitter at Ramgarh in Jaisalmer district, from an event at Akashvani Jaipur. It covers about an 80 km radius, nearly 20,000 sq km of Jaisalmer district. With it, Rajasthan has 39 FM transmitters; it is part of the plan to cover the whole border belt.

Quantum computing and communication lab and an AI lab announced for MNIT Jaipur

On 11 June 2026 at MNIT Jaipur, Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced an Advanced Quantum Computing and Quantum Communications Lab under MeitY's Electronics and ICT Academic Project. It will work on quantum key distribution, quantum computing simulation and quantum sensing hardware. An AI Lab linked to the IndiaAI Mission network was also announced, and students get access to Lam Research's 'Semiverse' chip-making training platform.

On 11 June 2026, BJP's Satish Poonia and Alka Gurjar and Congress's Neeraj Dangi were declared elected unopposed to the three Rajya Sabha seats from Rajasthan. India nominates 'Painted Haveli Towns of Shekhawati' (14 towns) to UNESCO's Tentative List

India's Permanent Delegation to UNESCO submitted the 'Painted Haveli Towns of Shekhawati' on 1 June 2026, and it entered UNESCO's Tentative List of World Heritage sites. The serial nomination covers 14 towns in Jhunjhunu, Churu and Sikar districts, including Mandawa, Nawalgarh, Fatehpur and Ramgarh. Centre approves Rs 1,359 crore four-laning of Nagaur–Bikaner section of NH-62

In June 2026 the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways approved four-laning of the Nagaur–Bikaner stretch of National Highway-62 at an estimated cost of about Rs 1,359 crore. Centre sanctions Rs 531 crore under PM-KUSUM Component-C for 553 solar power producers in Rajasthan

In June 2026 the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy approved over Rs 531 crore of central financial assistance for 553 solar power producers in Rajasthan under Component-C of PM-KUSUM. Of this, Rs 379.41 crore is for 432 producers under Jodhpur Discom (429 MW) and Rs 151.21 crore for 121 producers under Ajmer Discom (169 MW). Under Component-C, decentralised solar plants of up to 5 MW are set up on barren land near sub-stations to solarise agricultural feeders.

On 26 May 2026 Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Saanchu BSF border post in Bikaner, opened barracks for women personnel and reviewed border security. Oil India finds new natural gas in Sanu Formation of Dandewala field, Jaisalmer

On 23 May 2026 Oil India Limited announced a new natural gas discovery in the Dandewala field of Jaisalmer district, with gas flowing for the first time from the Sanu Formation. Cabinet approves Rajasthan Industrial Development Policy-2026, eyeing a USD 350 billion economy by 2028-29

On 22 May 2026 the Rajasthan Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, approved the Rajasthan Industrial Development Policy-2026. It rests on four pillars: green growth, governance, growth and globalisation, and aims to expand the state economy to USD 350 billion by 2028-29. It gives incentives for semiconductor units, data centres, global capability centres (GCCs) and logistics, with self-certification and deemed approvals. The same meeting allowed pensioners to give life certificates through face authentication on a mobile app.

Rajasthan High Court orders panchayat and urban local body elections by 31 July 2026

On 22 May 2026 a division bench of the Rajasthan High Court, headed by Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, directed the state government and the State Election Commission to hold panchayat and urban local body elections by 31 July. Rajasthan observes its first state-level Godawan Diwas (Great Indian Bustard Day) on 21 May

GRAM-2026 agritech meet in Jaipur postponed after PM's appeal to save fuel

On 1 May 2026 Rajasthan opened the online self-enumeration window for the first phase of Census 2027. Governor Haribhau Bagde and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma marked the launch by filling their own self-enumeration forms. On 27 April 2026 a Supreme Court bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta upheld the relocation of spotted deer from the A.N. Jha Deer Park, Hauz Khas (Delhi), to Rajasthan's Mukundra Hills and Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserves. Up to 38 deer may stay in the park, subject to Central Zoo Authority approval. The Court asked the Environment Ministry to examine and implement national guidelines on wildlife translocation within six months.

Fire at HPCL Rajasthan Refinery, Pachpadra, a day before PM's dedication; 21 April event postponed

On 20 April 2026 a fire broke out in the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) of the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery at Pachpadra, Balotra district, a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi was to dedicate it to the nation. The Petroleum Ministry postponed the 21 April dedication; no loss of life was reported. The refinery-cum-petrochemical complex is a joint venture of HPCL (74%) and the Rajasthan government (26%).

RPSC declares RAS 2024 final result a day after interviews; Barmer's Dinesh Bishnoi tops

On 18 April 2026 the Rajasthan Public Service Commission declared the final result of the RAS and Subordinate Services Combined Exam 2024, a day after interviews ended on 17 April. Dinesh Bishnoi of Barmer topped with 351.50 marks; Virendra Charan of Jaisalmer was second with 351 marks. The recruitment covered 1,096 posts (428 State Services and 668 Subordinate Services).

On 10 April 2026 Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma addressed the curtain-raiser of the Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet (GRAM) 2026, then planned for 23–25 May in Jaipur. World Bank approves USD 225 million for Rajasthan Highway Modernisation Project, India's first Step-Up Loan

On 10 April 2026 the World Bank's Board approved a USD 225 million IBRD loan for the Rajasthan Highway Modernisation Project. It will upgrade and maintain about 800 km of state highway corridors and is expected to benefit over 3 million people. It is the first Step-Up Loan (SuL) in India, with lower pricing in the early phase, and has a 35-year maturity with a 5-year grace period.

Union Cabinet approves 41-km Jaipur Metro Phase-2 (Prahladpura–Todi Mod) at Rs 13,037.66 crore

On 8 April 2026 the Union Cabinet approved Jaipur Metro Phase-2, a 41-km North-South corridor from Prahladpura to Todi Mod with 36 stations, at a cost of Rs 13,037.66 crore. On 8 April 2026 the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved revising the cost of the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited (HRRL) project from Rs 43,129 crore to Rs 79,459 crore, with Rs 8,962 crore more equity from HPCL (taking its total to Rs 19,600 crore). HRRL is a 9 MMTPA refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra (Balotra district), with 2.4 MMTPA petrochemical capacity. It is a joint venture of HPCL (74%) and the Rajasthan government (26%).

Jaipur hosts first Regional (Western) Agriculture Conference of the Centre's new zonal series

On 7 April 2026 Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan attended the Western Regional Agriculture Conference in Jaipur, the first in a new series of region-wise conferences to improve Centre-State coordination. Rajasthan High Court division bench upholds cancellation of the SI Recruitment Exam 2021

On 4 April 2026 a division bench of the Rajasthan High Court upheld the single-judge order of 28 August 2025 that had cancelled the Sub-Inspector (SI) Recruitment Exam 2021 over the paper leak. The recruitment had been notified on 3 February 2021 for 859 posts, and nearly 7.97 lakh candidates had applied. The exam was held from 13 to 15 September 2021.

Rajasthan Diwas 2026 celebrated on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, 19 March, instead of 30 March

In 2026 Rajasthan Diwas was celebrated on 19 March, the Chaitra Shukla Pratipada (Hindu New Year), instead of 30 March. The state government had decided to mark the day by the Hindu calendar, because Greater Rajasthan was formed on 30 March 1949, which was Chaitra Shukla Pratipada that year. A week of programmes across the state led up to the day.

207 new buses, including 100 Blue Line buses, added to Rajasthan Roadways fleet

On Rajasthan Diwas, 19 March 2026, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma flagged off 207 new Rajasthan Roadways buses from the Ajmer Road bus terminal in Jaipur: 100 Blue Line buses, 79 non-AC buses and 28 AC buses. The buses had been announced in the state budget and are meant to revive discontinued routes and improve rural and urban connectivity.

Rajasthan becomes first state to sign an MoU with the Jal Shakti Ministry under Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0

On 17 March 2026 Rajasthan became the first state to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti under the new guidelines of Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0. It was signed in New Delhi in the presence of Union Minister C.R. Patil, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and PHED Minister Kanhaiya Lal. The Union Cabinet had extended the mission to December 2028 a week earlier.

Rajasthan Assembly passes Bills removing the two-child bar for panchayat and municipal elections

On 9 March 2026 the Rajasthan Assembly passed the Rajasthan Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Bill, 2026, and in the same budget session it also passed the Rajasthan Municipalities (Amendment) Bill, 2026. Together they end the rule that barred people with more than two children from contesting panchayat and municipal elections. That rule was brought in in 1995 under Chief Minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat. The two-child rule still applies to government jobs.

Foundation stone laid for Rs 1,507 crore Kota–Bundi Greenfield Airport at Shambhupura; PM joins virtually

On 7 March 2026 the foundation stone of the Kota–Bundi Greenfield Airport was laid at Shambhupura in Kota by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi joining by video. The airport, costing about Rs 1,507 crore, will have a 3,200-metre runway and serve the Hadoti region. It is targeted to be ready by December 2027.

Rajasthan Assembly passes the Disturbed Areas Bill, 2026, modelled on Gujarat's 1991 Act

In March 2026 the Rajasthan Assembly passed the Rajasthan Prohibition of Transfer of Immovable Property and Provision for Protection of Tenants from Eviction from Premises in Disturbed Areas Bill, 2026. In an area notified as 'disturbed', property cannot be transferred without government permission; transfers made without it are void. The law is modelled on the Gujarat Disturbed Areas Act of 1991.

Rajasthan rolls out Semiconductor, Aerospace & Defence, and Industrial Park Promotion policies 2026

In March 2026 Rajasthan released three industrial policies. The Semiconductor Policy 2026 plans dedicated semiconductor corridors in Jodhpur–Pali–Marwar and other clusters, with 100% electricity duty exemption for seven years. The Aerospace and Defence Policy-2026 seeks to make the state a hub for aircraft, drones, missiles, radars and defence electronics, and the Industrial Park Promotion Policy-2026 allows private and PPP industrial parks.

PM launches nationwide HPV vaccination for 14-year-old girls from Ajmer; projects worth over ₹16,000 crore

On 28 February 2026, PM Narendra Modi launched a nationwide Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign for girls aged 14 years at Ajmer by vaccinating five girls. The HPV vaccine protects against cervical cancer. He also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth over ₹16,000 crore and gave appointment letters to more than 21,000 youths selected for Rajasthan government jobs.

CM announces in Assembly: Mount Abu to be Abu Raj, Jahazpur Yagyapur and Kaman Kamvan

On 27 February 2026, replying to the debate on the Appropriation Bill in the Rajasthan Assembly, CM Bhajan Lal Sharma announced that three places would be renamed: Mount Abu (Sirohi) as Abu Raj, Jahazpur (Bhilwara) as Yagyapur and Kaman (Deeg) as Kamvan. Rajasthan Cabinet removes two-child bar for local body polls; creates Directorate of Revenue Intelligence

On 25 February 2026, the Rajasthan Cabinet chaired by CM Bhajan Lal Sharma approved amendments to the Rajasthan Panchayati Raj Act, 1994 and the Rajasthan Municipalities Act, 2009, so that people with more than two children can contest panchayat and municipal elections. The government said the provision had become less relevant as the fertility rate has fallen. The Cabinet also approved a Directorate of Revenue Intelligence and Economic Offences to act against real-estate fraud, banking and insurance scams, tax evasion and illegal land deals.

Cabinet clears Rajasthan Industrial Park Incentive Policy, 2026 with up to 20% capital subsidy

Rajasthan bans felling of Khejri statewide after 11-day agitation in Bikaner; tree protection law promised

On the night of 12 February 2026, a government delegation handed protesters in Bikaner a Revenue Department letter directing all district collectors to stop the cutting of Khejri trees across the state until a tree protection law is enacted. The mass sit-in, led by saints and the Bishnoi community since 2 February, opposed the felling of Khejri trees for solar power plants in western Rajasthan; it was called off after the government's written assurance of a law. Diya Kumari presents Rajasthan Budget 2026-27 of ₹6,10,956 crore; fiscal deficit 3.7% of GSDP

Rajasthan Budget: Lakhpati Didi loan limit raised to ₹1.5 lakh; ₹25,000 crore interest-free crop loans

Rajasthan Cabinet clears Aerospace & Defence Policy and the state's first Semiconductor Policy

On 21 January 2026, the Rajasthan Cabinet approved the Rajasthan Aerospace and Defence Policy and the state's first Rajasthan Semiconductor Policy–2025. Centre notifies 0–1 km Eco-Sensitive Zone of about 243 sq km around Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary

The Union Environment Ministry notified an Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ) around Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary in the Aravalli range, reported on 20 January 2026. The ESZ extends from zero to one kilometre from the sanctuary boundary, covers about 243 sq km and 94 villages in Udaipur, Pali and Rajsamand districts. The sanctuary's wildlife includes leopard, striped hyena, Indian pangolin and chinkara.

Rajasthan Cabinet approves Vehicle Scrapping Policy-2025 and Green Credit Voucher Initiative-2025

On 30 December 2025, the Rajasthan Cabinet chaired by CM Bhajanlal Sharma approved the Rajasthan Vehicle Scrapping Policy-2025 to phase out unfit and polluting vehicles, such as those over 15 years old. Owners get a scrapping certificate and up to 50% (maximum ₹1 lakh) relief in motor vehicle tax on a new vehicle. The Cabinet also approved the Green Credit Voucher Initiative-2025 to reward green projects by urban local bodies and investors.

Cabinet clears Rajasthan AI-ML Policy-2026; Barmer (Pachpadra) refinery cost revised to ₹79,459 crore

The same Cabinet meeting on 30 December 2025 approved the Rajasthan AI-ML Policy-2026, which provides for an AI Centre of Excellence, AI nodal officers in departments and training for youth and officials. On 23 December 2025, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and CM Bhajanlal Sharma attended a farmers' conference at Merta City in Nagaur district. Tigress PN-224 airlifted from Pench (MP) and released in Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve

Tigress PN-224 from Madhya Pradesh's Pench Tiger Reserve was flown to Jaipur in an IAF Mi-17 helicopter on 21 December 2025 and taken by road to Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve in Bundi. After a stay in a soft-release enclosure, she entered the forest on 28 December. The inter-state translocation aims to improve the gene pool of Rajasthan's tigers.

Heal in Rajasthan Policy 2025 launched on the state government's second anniversary

On 15 December 2025, the day the state government completed two years, CM Bhajanlal Sharma launched the Heal in Rajasthan Policy 2025 at the RUHS hospital in Jaipur. It aims to make Rajasthan an affordable, reliable destination for medical value travel (medical tourism). Under a hub-and-spoke model, over 100 specialised tests were made free at 11 mother labs and 400 spokes.

First Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas held at JECC Jaipur; NRR Policy-2025 unveiled

Rajasthan observed its first Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas on 10 December 2025 at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC). Rajasthan signs ₹8.5 crore MoU with IIT Hyderabad for AI-based mineral exploration

During Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas 2025 at JECC Jaipur, the Rajasthan government signed an MoU worth over ₹8.5 crore with IIT Hyderabad. IITH will build an AI and machine-learning system that maps critical minerals such as lithium, copper, graphite and rare earth elements across 39 districts. Work orders for ₹5,184 crore Nonera and Parwan-Akawad drinking water projects in Hadoti

In December 2025, the Rajasthan government issued work orders for two Jal Jeevan Mission drinking water projects costing ₹5,184 crore for Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar and Baran districts. The Nonera project (₹1,661 crore) will serve 749 villages and 6 towns of Kota and Bundi, and the Parwan-Akawad project (₹3,523 crore) 1,402 villages of Baran, Jhalawar and the Sangod area of Kota. Both are due for completion by August 2027.

Gang Canal centenary celebrated at Sadhuwali; Ferozepur Feeder reconstruction work begins

On 5 December 2025, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma inaugurated the Gang Canal centenary celebration at Sadhuwali in Sri Ganganagar and began work to rebuild and improve the Ferozepur Feeder. Maharaja Ganga Singh of Bikaner, the canal's founder, had laid its foundation stone on 5 December 1925. The CM also raised the sugarcane price by ₹15 per quintal.

India–Malaysia exercise Harimau Shakti-2025 held at Mahajan Field Firing Range, 5–18 December

The fifth edition of the India–Malaysia joint military exercise Harimau Shakti began on 5 December 2025 at the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan and ran till 18 December. The Indian Army was represented by the Dogra Regiment and Malaysia by the 25th Battalion of the Royal Malaysian Army. The drill rehearsed sub-conventional (counter-terrorism) operations under Chapter VII of the UN mandate.

5th Khelo India University Games end in Jaipur; Chandigarh University retains overall title

The fifth Khelo India University Games, hosted by Rajasthan from 24 November to 5 December 2025 in seven cities (Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Kota and Bharatpur), closed in Jaipur on 5 December. Chandigarh University topped the medal table, Lovely Professional University was runner-up and Guru Nanak Dev University came third. Union MoS Raksha Khadse attended the closing ceremony.

Siliserh Lake in Alwar declared a Ramsar site: India's 96th, Rajasthan's fifth

In December 2025, Siliserh Lake in Alwar district was added to the Ramsar list of wetlands of international importance, along with Kopra Jalashay of Chhattisgarh (that state's first). This took India's count to 96, and Siliserh became Rajasthan's fifth Ramsar site. The lake was built in 1845 by Maharaja Vinay Singh of Alwar and lies near the Sariska Tiger Reserve.
