On 7 September 2026, the 5th National Steering Committee of PM-SETU approved a ₹241 crore investment plan for an ITI cluster in Rajasthan. Government ITI Bhiwadi is the hub, with Government ITIs at Alwar, Neemrana, Tijara and Kishangarh Bas as spokes; H.G. Infra Engineering Ltd is the industry partner. The meeting, chaired by Skill Development Secretary Debashree Mukherjee, cleared ₹735.70 crore for clusters in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana.

Justice Sanjay Kumar Agrawal sworn in as Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court on 7 September 2026

Governor Haribhau Bagade administered the oath of office to Justice Sanjay Kumar Agrawal as Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court in Jaipur on 7 September 2026. The Centre notified his appointment after a Supreme Court Collegium recommendation of 31 August 2026. He earlier served for about 13 years at the Chhattisgarh High Court. Until then, the Rajasthan High Court was working under an Acting Chief Justice.

Rajasthan elects 309 urban local bodies in two phases (9 and 11 September 2026); results on 14 September

Elections to 309 urban local bodies of Rajasthan, including 10 municipal corporations, were held in two phases: 162 bodies on 9 September and 147 bodies on 11 September 2026. Votes were counted on 14 September, and heads of most bodies were elected on 21 September. On 25 September, mayors were elected in Jaipur (Sunil Kothari), Jodhpur (Prasannachand Mehta) and Kota (Anusuiya Goswami).

The birth anniversary of folk deity Baba Ramdev was celebrated on Bhadrapada dooj (dwitiya), 13 September 2026. IAF holds its first ‘Dronathon-2026’ at Pokhran Field Firing Range, Jaisalmer, from 14 September

The Indian Air Force held its first Dronathon-2026, a three-day event, at the Pokhran Field Firing Range in Jaisalmer from 14 to 16 September 2026. Vice Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit inaugurated it. Indian companies, start-ups and innovators showed indigenous drone (UAS) and counter-drone technologies through live demonstrations, in line with Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Eklavya Model Residential Schools in Rajasthan to get computer labs-cum-smart classrooms worth over ₹16 crore

On 15 September 2026, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs said Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in Rajasthan will get computer labs-cum-smart classrooms worth over ₹16 crore. The project is funded by Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) under Corporate Social Responsibility with the National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC). Tribal Affairs Secretary Ranjana Chopra said over 450 EMRS students qualified for JEE Advanced and over 350 for NEET-UG this year.

22nd India–US exercise Yudh Abhyas begins on 15 September at Auli and Rajasthan's Mahajan Field Firing Range

The 22nd edition of the India–US joint military exercise Yudh Abhyas began on 15 September 2026 at the Auli Foreign Training Node in Uttarakhand and the Mahajan Field Firing Range in Rajasthan. About 600 soldiers from each army are training for Integrated Battle Groups in mountain and semi-mountain terrain, with drones and long-range precision fires. Live-fire drills in Rajasthan used M777 howitzers, Dhanush guns and Pinaka rocket launchers.

WWF Global Conservation Conference opens in Jaipur on 21 September 2026; delegates from over 100 countries

Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav inaugurated the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) Global Conservation Conference in Jaipur on 21 September 2026. He said that in a decade India's protected areas rose from about 750 to over 1,000, tiger reserves from 47 to 58, elephant reserves from 30 to 33 and Ramsar sites from 24 to 101. He cited cheetah reintroduction and the Great Indian Bustard conservation breeding programme in Rajasthan as key successes.

India–Japan air exercise Veer Guardian 2026 concludes at Air Force Station Jodhpur on 22 September

The Indian Air Force and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force held the bilateral air exercise Veer Guardian 2026 at Air Force Station Jodhpur from 9 to 22 September. It was the first time Japanese fighter aircraft operated from Indian soil in a bilateral exercise; Japan brought F-2A fighters and the IAF flew Tejas, Su-30MKI and Rafale. On 20 September, IAF chief Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh and Japan's air chief General Takehiro Morita flew a sortie in the Tejas.

Second edition of IAF's multinational air exercise Tarang Shakti begins at Jodhpur on 26 September 2026

Tarang Shakti 2026, the second edition of the Indian Air Force's multinational air exercise, began on 26 September at Air Force Station Jodhpur and nearby air bases and runs till 12 October. Countries taking part with aircraft include Australia, Bangladesh, France, Germany, Sri Lanka, the UAE and the USA. Missions include counter-air, air defence, reconnaissance, airlift and air-to-air refuelling.

Rajasthan terracotta artist Chandra Shekhar Sain among 20 Lalit Kala Akademi National Award winners

On 27 September 2026, the Lalit Kala Akademi announced 20 National Akademi Awards at its 65th National Exhibition of Art. Chandra Shekhar Sain, a terracotta artist from Rajasthan, won in the sculpture category for his terracotta work ‘My Entire World-I’. He is the only artist from Rajasthan among this year's awardees.

NSO releases first-ever district-level estimates of unincorporated non-farm enterprises from ASUSE 2025

On 10 September 2026, the National Statistical Office released the first district-level estimates of India's unincorporated non-agricultural sector, based on the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) 2025. They cover 757 of 770 districts; the top 50 districts account for about one-third of the sector's activity. The national average gross value added (GVA) per worker is ₹1,56,539, and Jaipur district alone has 11.70% of Rajasthan's unincorporated establishments.

India crosses 80 lakh HPV vaccinations under campaign launched from Ajmer in February 2026

The Union Health Ministry said on 11 September 2026 that India had crossed 80 lakh HPV vaccinations given to protect girls against cervical cancer. The nationwide campaign for girls of 14 years was launched by the Prime Minister from Ajmer, Rajasthan, in February 2026. About 200 women die of cervical cancer in India every day, the report noted.

Dryland Congress 2026 ends in New Delhi with ‘Delhi Declaration on Drylands’

The three-day Dryland Congress 2026, organised by ICRISAT and ICAR, concluded in New Delhi on 12 September 2026, the UN Day for South-South Cooperation. Six states including Rajasthan sign agreement for Kishau multipurpose dam on the Tons river

On 15 September 2026 in New Delhi, in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the Kishau multipurpose project. It plans a 232.6-metre-high concrete gravity dam on the Tons river, a tributary of the Yamuna, along the Uttarakhand–Himachal Pradesh border, storing 1,562 million cubic metres. It will irrigate about 97,000 hectares and produce 1,476 million units of hydropower; the Centre will bear 90% of the cost of the water component.

Kavach 4.0 commissioned on South Central Railway's 108-km Malkajgiri–Kamareddi section

On 23 September 2026, Indian Railways commissioned version 4.0 of its indigenous automatic train protection system Kavach on the 108-route-km Malkajgiri–Kamareddi section of South Central Railway's Hyderabad division. It is the first Kavach 4.0 deployment on this zone, which earlier had version 3.2 on 1,465 route km. Version 4.0 gives better location accuracy and station-to-station Kavach links through optical fibre cable.

Mann Ki Baat (138th episode): over 32 crore families covered in first phase of Census 2027

In the 138th episode of Mann Ki Baat on 27 September 2026, the Prime Minister said data of over 32 crore families had been recorded in the first phase of Census 2027. More than 2.6 crore people registered themselves through the self-enumeration mobile portal, available in Hindi and 16 other languages. Census work continued in remote, snow-bound areas of Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand.

Belgian PM Bart De Wever's first official India visit: aim to double bilateral trade in five years

Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever visited India from 2 to 4 September 2026, his first official visit since taking office in February 2025, and held talks with the Prime Minister on 3 September. The two sides agreed to work towards doubling bilateral trade in five years and to set up an India–Belgium Investment Fast-Track Mechanism. Outcomes included a Letter of Intent on defence cooperation, a renewed MoU on renewable energy and a CBI–Belgian Federal Police MoU on cybercrime and transnational crime.

18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi adopts ‘New Delhi Declaration’; China to chair BRICS in 2027

India hosted the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on 12–13 September 2026 under its chairship, and leaders adopted the New Delhi Declaration. It backed reform of global governance and stronger cooperation under three pillars: political and security, economic and financial, and cultural and people-to-people. IBSA foreign ministers meet in New York on 24 September 2026, seek comprehensive UN Security Council reform

The foreign ministers of India (S. Jaishankar), Brazil (Mauro Vieira) and South Africa (Ronald Lamola) met in New York on 24 September 2026 on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly. They called for comprehensive UN Security Council reform, including permanent seats for India, Brazil and Africa, and for reform of global governance institutions to give developing countries a greater say. They noted that the IBSA Fund has supported 53 projects in 43 countries over two decades.

The 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, organised by UNODC, was held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from 26 September to 1 October 2026. King Mohammed VI appointed Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri as Morocco's first woman Prime Minister (head of government) on 29 September 2026. Her Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) won the most seats, 97, in the parliamentary elections of 23 September; under Morocco's constitution the king names the head of government from the leading party. Cabinet raises EPFO wage ceiling for mandatory coverage from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 a month

On 16 September 2026, the Union Cabinet approved raising the wage ceiling for mandatory coverage under the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 per month. Over 51 lakh more employees will come under provident fund (EPF), pension (EPS) and insurance (EDLI) cover. The ceiling was last revised in September 2014; the extra yearly cost is estimated at ₹11,339 crore.

Rabi MSP 2027-28: wheat ₹2,610, mustard ₹6,613 a quintal; safflower gets the highest hike

On 30 September 2026, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs raised the MSP of all six mandated Rabi crops for marketing season 2027-28. Wheat goes up by ₹25 to ₹2,610 per quintal and rapeseed-mustard by ₹413 to ₹6,613; barley is ₹2,286, gram ₹5,958 and lentil (masur) ₹7,390. Safflower gets the highest increase, ₹675, to ₹7,215 per quintal.

Cabinet approves Green Energy Corridor Phase-III: ₹1,86,405 crore for 135 GW evacuation and 50 GWh storage

On 30 September 2026, the Union Cabinet approved Green Energy Corridor Phase-III to strengthen intra-state transmission and evacuate up to 135 GW of renewable energy by 2032-33. It includes 50 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The total outlay is ₹1,86,405 crore, with central financial support of ₹54,082 crore; state transmission utilities will implement it.

GSLV-F17 launches EOS-05, India's first imaging satellite for geosynchronous orbit, on 4 September

ISRO's GSLV-F17 lifted off from the second launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 2:55 am on 4 September 2026, carrying the 2,367-kg EOS-05. It is India's first imaging satellite designed to work from geosynchronous orbit (about 36,000 km), giving real-time imagery for agriculture and disaster management. It replaces the EOS-03 satellite lost in the failed GSLV-F10 mission of 2021.

World Ozone Day 2026: India's Net Zero Portal and NAPCC Dashboard launched

On World Ozone Day, 16 September 2026, Minister of State for Environment Kirti Vardhan Singh launched India's Net Zero Portal and the National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) Dashboard. Project Cheetah completes four years; India has 52 cheetahs, 32 of them born in India

Project Cheetah completed four years on 17 September 2026; the first cheetahs from Namibia were released in India on 17 September 2022. India now has 52 cheetahs, including 32 born in the country – 49 in Kuno National Park and 3 in Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary. Cheetahs have been brought from Namibia (2022), South Africa (2023) and Botswana (2026).

First PRAMAAN certificates issued under the Indian Forest and Wood Certification Scheme

On 29 September 2026 in New Delhi, Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav handed over India's first PRAMAAN certificates under the Indian Forest and Wood Certification Scheme (IFWCS). PRAMAAN stands for Programme for Recognition and Accreditation of sustainable Management practices for Agroforestry And Natural forestry resources. The first certificates went to the Andhra Pradesh Forest Development Corporation for 33,000 hectares of plantations and to Odisha bamboo farmer Govind Mohapatra.

US Open 2026: Alexander Zverev and Elena Rybakina win the singles titles

Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan beat defending champion Aryna Sabalenka 6-4, 5-7, 6-2 on 12 September 2026 to win her first US Open and third Grand Slam title. On 13 September, Germany's Alexander Zverev beat Ben Shelton of the USA 6-3, 7-6(2), 5-7, 6-2 in the men's final. Zverev had also won the French Open (Roland Garros) in June 2026.

Asian Games 2026: India's women retain cricket gold, beating Sri Lanka – India's first gold of the Games

India beat Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the women's cricket final at Korogi Sports Park, Nisshin (Japan), on 22 September 2026 to retain the Asian Games title, led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur. 72nd National Film Awards presented at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat – first ceremony held outside Delhi

President Droupadi Murmu presented the 72nd National Film Awards at Ekta Nagar (Narmada district), Gujarat, on 22 September 2026, the first time the ceremony was held outside the national capital. ‘Article 370’ won Best Feature Film and Yami Gautam Best Actress for it; Mammootty (‘Bramayugam’) and Kartik Aaryan (‘Chandu Champion’) shared Best Actor.
